Our Governors
Welcome letter from the Chair of Governors
Dear Parents/Carers and Friends
At Foulds we want all our children to be principled, independent, resilient life-long learners and as governors we work alongside staff, pupils and parents to help make this a reality. The Governing Body is widely involved with key-decision making across the school. It is responsible for holding the Head and Senior Leadership Team to account to ensure high standards of educational achievement; overseeing the financial performance of the school and ensuring that money is well spent, and for ensuring clarity of ethos, vision and strategic direction.
Governors are drawn from across the community and include parents, staff, an LA Councillor and other members of the local community with a diverse breadth of skills and experience that they use to support the school. Governors hold termly Full Governing Body meetings and run two sub-committees of the Board (Resources and Curriculum & Welfare) that undertake the detailed work of governance. In addition, Governors support the school on other ad hoc panels, in dealing with complaints and on recruitment panels. Governors are frequently in school to attend meetings, and attend a termly Governors Day where they conduct a book look and visit a particular key stage to deepen their working knowledge of the school.
Being a Governor is a huge privilege and is hugely rewarding and we are all committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our pupils. Every year, Governors agree a set of key strategic priorities. For 2018/19 these are:
-
To ensure the Foulds Governing Body develops governor competencies to broaden leadership in key strategic areas
-
To ensure the Foulds Governing Body rigorously and consistently holds the school to account for performance and progress of all groups, including vulnerable groups.
-
To ensure Foulds School continues to achieve financial sustainability
-
To rigorously monitor the school’s effective safeguarding of all pupils in the school
